Town & Country Planning in Lakhimpur :

The Lakhimpur district is situated in the North East Part of Assam. The District Head Quarter of the Lakhimpur is North Lakhimpur which is attained urban status in the year 1914 at that time of Lakhimpur was a Sub-Division under Dibrugarh District. The urbanization process of the North Lakhimpur town develops in a gradual manner and population growth of the town in the year 2001 as per Census India was 54,000 and which becomes 59837 say 60,000 population in 2011.

The Town & Country Planning, Lakhimpur District Office is an unit of the Directorate of Town & Country Planning, Assam under Ministry of Urban Development Department, State Govt. of Assam.
The Town & Country Planning, District Office, Lakhimpur, North Lakhimpur was established in 1979 under Town & Country Planning Act. 1959 (as amendment). There after the district office Town & Country Planning is entrusted for preparation of Master Plan and to prepare urban development schemes for towns under its jurisdiction.

Activities/Functions :

  1. The district office Town & Country Planning prepares Master Plan for towns under Lakhimpur District and make its revision time to time.
  2. Supervision and monitoring of centrally sponsored schemes such as UIDSSMT, 10% Pool Fund, NLCPR, Basti-Sudhar, Infrastructure Development Scheme, Entry Tax fund and other urban development grants implemented by the ULB’s.
  3. Moreover, Town & Country Planning, North Lakhimpur Office provides Technical assistance to the ULB’s in connection with preparation of Detail Project Report (DPR), Development Plan etc. as per the Govt. instruction.

1. "Construction of Commercial Complex" in North Lakhimpur town under 10% Pool Fund, Ministry of Urban Development of North East Region including Sikkim Govt. of India :
  1. Source of Fund : Ministry of Urban Development of NE Region, Govt. of India.
  2. Sanction amount : Rs. 354.74 Lakh.
  3. Implementing Agency : North Lakhimpur Municipal Board,
  4. Monitoring & Supervision : Town & Country Planning department, North Lakhimpur.
  5. Present Status : Project Completed within July’2016.
