ASHA WORKSHOP AT KARUNABARI  12th July 2005



The ASHA awareness camp at Karunabai Block was  held in the conference hall of BDO office, Karunabari today on dated 12th July 2005 under the presidentship of   Mr. Radhika Pegu ADO , Laluk at 12AM. At the outset of the awareness camp, Sri Japan Dutta CICO Karunabari briefed about the aims and  objectives of the  Awareness camp to the gathering and invitees.   Smti Jhuma Neog CICO , Karunabari described elaborately about  ASHA project and its various advantages and  the membership types  with their respective  facilities.  Sri Dibyajit Dutta DIO (NIC), Lakhimpur  in his keynote address described the various inherent scopes of  ASHA portals for our farmers to overcome the various obstacles  faced by them  in day to day life .  He invited all SHGs, PPS, cultivators to improve their technical skill in today’s completive and global markets and become modern & sophisticated farmers otherwise they will be continuously facing similar exploitation from middleman and can never improve their economic condition inspite of their hard labour . He encouraged the farmers to concentrate on quality product aiming for the  premium markets and avail the various schemes/ training etc offered by Govt. Sri Mohendra Phukan SDAO Agri  cited some practical example faced by our farmers and how such problems may be overcome with the help of ASHA portals.  He advised all farmers to become familiar with INTENET and utilize it to the fullest. 
A nos of farmers spoke about various problems faced by them . An educated floriculturist enquired if there would be any provision in ASHA  for e-commerce for his imported flori-product and any scope for  credit card transaction to access global  market. One farmer enquired that as they have been facing spreading of unknown virus and affecting particular crops while multi-cropping , if any facility is available to solve such  problem. One farmer enquired about the availability of reliable sources to procure improved / hybrid seeds  as most of the time they found that seeds procured from shops are spurious.     The meeting ended with thanks from the chair.  Total  56 nos of representative of PPS, SHG or farmers attended the meeting and 13 nos VLEW attended the camp and later, they were given demonstration on ASFAC portal in the CIC Karunabari.
